Clinics

Midvives
Trained midwives are attached to the practice. They provide complete maternity care in association with the doctors.

Postnatal Care
All new mothers and babies are visited at home by a midwife. Postnatal examination appointments are sent out for mother and baby six weeks after delivery.

Child Health Surveillance
This includes well baby check-ups, developmental assessments and immunisation. This programme is carried out by the doctors and health visitors for your children from birth up to four years of age.

Paston Health Centre   Tuesdays   9.30-11.30am
Werrington Health Centre   Wednesdays   10.00am-12 noon

Family Planning
A full range of family planning services is available through your doctors, eg pill, coil fitting, cap fitting, morning-after contraception and injections.

Health Promotion/Well Person Clinic
We are actively engaged in health education and prevention and are always happy to discuss this with you. Our practice nurses carry out Well Person Clinics.

Minor Surgery
Certain minor surgery procedures are carried out in the surgery. The range of surgical procedures will increase as new facilities become available.

Non-NHS Examinations
The doctors are happy to carry out medicals, eg insurance and driving licence, by appointment. Please telephone the surgery for an appointment and ask at reception for the charges for these services.

Counselling
This is carried out by a trained counsellor at both Paston Health Centre and Werrington Health Centre.

Cervical Smears
These are carried out by the practice nurse. We operate a computer recall system and recommend regular screening. These need to be booked with a practice nurse.

Clinic Times:
Paston Health Centre   2.15-3.30pm
Werrington Health Centre   2.15-3.30pm

Travel Immunisation/Vaccinations
Vaccination and advice on foreign travel are both available from your doctor and practice nurse. Immunisation against yellow fever is available at Werrington Health Centre. Charges may be incurred for certain vaccinations.

Flu Vaccination
An influenza vaccination is particularly recommended for patients with heart, lung or kidney disease, diabetes, and residents of nursing and rest homes.

Please contact the reception staff in October for details of the vaccination dates and to make an appointment. If you are unable to attend the surgery, a home visit will be arranged to undertake this facility.

Community Psychiatric Nurses
These nurses have experience in giving advice and help to people undergoing periods of stress.

Macmillan Nurses
These nurses are available for advice and to administer care to cancer patients in their homes. Please discuss with reception.

Health Checks

If you are between 16 and 75 years of age and have not been seen by a GP or nurse for three years, you are advised to see the nurse for a health check. Patients over 75 years of age who have not been seen in the previous 12 months are invited to see the nurse for a health check.
